Why Sell Your Mercedes 230 SL to Old Town Classics

There’s plenty of reasons to sell your Pagoda to me. Not only you’re gaining a reasonable deal, but you’re also selling the car to someone who’s appreciating that car just as much as you do. This sale will not be just a simple transaction; it’s more like passing on a legacy.

    Friendly approach

For some sellers, parting with their vintage car can be harder than they think, because of all the history and sentimental value it carries, it’s understandable that they want to find a good new home for the car they have enjoyed and used for so many years. As a passionate car collector and vintage car specialist, I completely understand why finding the right buyer matters so much, so I try to be understanding, kind, and laid-back when talking to my clients. I don’t want to pressure them into selling. Instead, I try to be compassionate, kind-hearted, and friendly. This way, both sides have a pleasant experience.

    Fair offers

My offer is based on the assessment of your vehicle and current trends in the classic car market. To properly evaluate the car, I take into account its physical condition, rarity, year of make, and many other factors. Lastly, after analyzing all the elements, I will make a market-reflective offer.

    Quick & simple sale

My main priority is to offer you a smooth and trouble-free sale process by taking care of all aspects of the sale such as completing paperwork or arranging transportation. This way, you will save your precious time and efforts and get to have a pleasant and quick from start to end.

    No commissions

Since I am a direct buyer and you will be working solely with me, you won’t have to pay any extra fees for the brokers and you will be getting the entire amount for yourself.

    35+ years of experience

I have been present in the classic car industry for almost 4 decades, and have been showing strong passion towards vintage automobiles ever since young age. My easygoing and honest approach and a wealth of knowledge have earned me a good reputation among the clients. They recognize my passion and skills and genuinely enjoy chatting about their classic Mercedes-Benz car.

Mercedes-Benz 230 SL “Pagoda” Fun Facts

The creation of Mercedes 230 SL in 1963 played a huge role in the future of Mercedes-Benz’s sports car program. It’s an important model in company’s portfolio, and here’s a few fun facts you may not know.

    • Debut – The 230 SL model was unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show, in March of 1963. At the time it was presented as comfortable and safe sports car of high-performance.
    • Production years – As the first W-133 SL model, the 230 SL was manufactured from 1963 to 1967. More than 19,000 units were produced, with less than 5,000 sold in the US.
    • Why “Pagoda”? – This model is also known as the “Pagoda” due to its unique concave shape of hardtop, resembling ancient Asian temples. Designed by Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi, this model’s roof of clear and distinctive lines pointed inward, which added extra strength, stability, and safety to the vehicle.
    • Disc brake system – This was the first Mercedes model that had disc brakes (together with Master Vac servo break). However, the disc brake system was not manufactured in Germany, but in England and Wales by the company called Girling.
    • Successors – It was succeeded by the 250 SL and 280 SL model that also kept the nickname “Pagoda”

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1.      I’m a first-time seller. How do I prepare for the sale?

If you are uncertain of how to prepare for the first sale, here’s a few guidelines for you. Start by preparing all the paperwork, cleaning, or even better – detailing the vehicle. The next stage would be to set the correct asking price. For this, you have to research the market and see what similar cars are being sold for. This should give you an approximate idea on what the value of your Pagoda is.

After that, it’s time to take photos of the car, preferably in locations with clean background. Natural surroundings are best for this, so try to find a beach, country lane, or mountain road where you can take pics. Lastly, clear out the garage so that potential buyer can have clear view of the vehicle.

However, you can avoid all this hassle by giving me a call. Contact me today to see how I can save your time and efforts.

    2.      Will you take care of the necessary documentation?

Certainly! As a licensed and bonded buyer, I will complete all the necessary paperwork, including the transfer of the title. Don’t worry if you can’t find the title, as I can apply for the replacement at your local DMV office.

    3.      I want to sell my Pagoda. What do I need to do?

Selling to me is quick and simple. Simply give me a ring on (619) 540-4637 or fill out a quick form to set up a meeting where we can have a friendly chat about the history of your classic. After I view the vehicle and perform an assessment, I will make you a reasonable offer, based on the condition of the car and market trends. If you accept the offer, we’ll sign the documents, complete a transaction, and the entire process will soon be finished.
