*Scheduled to go up for auction on Bring a Trailer sometime in July. Will post here once firm date is given. Stay tuned…
Purchased from the original owner since 1964. Southern California car since new. Log book detailing mileage. Last registered and garaged stored in 1984. Incredible body with no rust or prior accident damage. Very nice chrome and trim. Never apart, wonderful Factory panel gaps. One respray in 1971 in non original color ( originally Opalescent Silver Blue). Was told this was done by owners young son who thought the car was to be his own at the time. The owners survivors who I bought the car from are still not happy about it 50 years later. Regardless it appears to have been done in a lacquer paint common at the time with minimal sanding preparation. It still presents well with depth and shine. Engine bay “bird cage” remains in its original paint.
The interior is original with exception of the seat covers. Factory wood steering wheel is exceptional. It was protected by a Leather cover that I since removed. Matching numbers, the engine spins freely. Will need a complete service to get back on the road. Last log entries show it was last driven in 1984, with one entry from 2003 indicating he may have started the car.
Rare opportunity for a perfect candidate for a top level authentic restoration. Or recommission its mechanicals and use as is. Although its a first year E-type, it is not a “flat floor” car….. it was produced 292 cars after the change over. Call for details.
